Audrie’s Top 8 Favorite Amazon Must-Haves of 2018

I’m not being dramatic when I say that Amazon is my jam. It’s fast, easy, and they have [almost] everything. I see I’m running low on a given product, place a prime order, and boom. 2 days later, I have a box on my doorstep.

So, save yourself a trip to the store and check out my top 8 favorite Amazon purchases of 2018.

1.     Batiste Dry Shampoo, pack of 3, $16

During my teenage years, I shampooed my hair every single day (a fact which now makes me cringe). I have since “trained” my hair to produce less oil, and now go 3-4 days between shampoos. Good dry shampoo is absolutely essential to my morning routine, and Batiste is my go-to drugstore holy grail. Sure, I love a good Amika or Oribe dry shampoo splurge, but Batiste keeps my hair and my bank account happy. I always order the three-packs because I go through this stuff pretty quickly!

2.     Thayer’s Witch Hazel Alcohol-Free Toner, $8

I’ll never claim to be a beauty expert (I’ll leave most of our beauty content to T), but I came to love this toner in 2018. It’s alcohol-free, so it leaves my skin feeling fresh without any drying effects. I use this in the morning after I wash my face, and save harsher toners for my evening routine.

3.     Alani Nu Pre-Workout, $40

Do you need to take pre-workout to have a great gym session? Absolutely not. Do I like to take pre-workout to get my butt in gear for a super early morning 5:00 am gym session? Absolutely. I’ve tried most of the pre-workouts that Amazon distributes, and my current favorite is Alani Nu. It gives me an energy boost without giving me the jitters, it dissolves well (no gross grainy powder at the bottom of the shaker), and the flavors are just delightful – mimosa, citrus dew, Hawaiian shaved ice, sour gummy… so good!

4.     Scivation Xtend BCAA Powder, Pink Lemonade, $20

Do you need to drink BCAAs to have a great gym session? No. Do I like to sip on some BCAAs during my workouts? Yes, and I’ll tell you why. First, it is a tasty beverage. Second, whether or not it’s a mental thing, I find that it does help with my recovery in between sets. Third, it kick-starts my hydration or the day by helping me drink a ton of water first thing in the morning. So - why not?

5.     Down-Alternative Utopia Bedding Comforter (duvet insert), $28 (queen)

Earlier this year, I treated myself to all new bedding and needed a lightweight but warm comforter insert for my new duvet cover. This comforter fits the bill perfectly. It’s warm, but not too heavy. In fact, T has this exact same comforter and we both love them!

6.     Clairol Shimmer Lights Shampoo and Conditioner, $19

In my quest to keep my highlights looking more ashy than brassy, I’ve sampled several purple shampoos during 2018. The Clairol Shimmer Lights is my favorite for regular use – I use it every 2-3 times I shampoo my hair, followed by the Shimmer Lights conditioner. The product deposits just enough purple tone to combat brassiness without darkening the highlights.

7.     Staedtler Triplus Fineliner Pens, $8

I got hooked on these pens in law school, and have continued to use them almost exclusively at work and at home. They write well, they last a long time, and somehow make my usually-sloppy handwriting look effortlessly artful. Although I tend to keep it professional with black or blue ink, these also come in a huge variety of colors for all of your doodling endeavors.

8.     L’Oreal Lash Paradise Primer and Mascara, $13

As noted above, I’m no beauty guru. That said, I’ve tried countless mascaras over the years, both drugstore and high-end, so maybe I’m a mascara guru?? I discovered Lash Paradise in 2018, and it is a game changer. The primer + mascara combo is unbeatable at this price point. It gives me volume and length without clumping, even with a couple of coats.
